Annotation:

In the course of operation and construction and repair works, pipelines are often subjected to mechanical stress of construction mechanisms. As a result, defects such as dents and/or corrugations occur on pipelines. The authors of the article analyze the normative approach to the assessment of pipelines deformations by dents and/or corrugations and in their conclusions they give recommendations for improving this assessment. The article also presents the results of field studies of pipes with defects like dent and corrugation, conducted by the authors independently and jointly with specialists of gas transportation companies. Changes of the defects state under various testing modes are described in detail. The results of these studies formed the basis of recommendations for improving the regulatory framework governing the assessment processes and repair of pipelines.
