The management of emergency and operational stocks is an integral part of the logistics system, the purpose of which is to ensure the availability of the required volume and quality of material and technical resources (MTR) at the right time while minimizing costs and possible losses in case of their shortage. The article analyzes the approaches of various companies in the oil and gas sector as well as presents the methodology and calculation models for normalizing emergency and operational stocks of materials and equipment. It should be noted that many aspects of the methodology are also valid for other manufacturing, industrial and service companies. The presented methodology considers many parameters in the formation of stocks, allows analyzing the dynamics/logistics of supplies and consumption, automates the calculation process in order to reduce and optimize the volume of working capital and the nomenclature of MTR of the enterprise.
