Integrated extraction and use of coal methane deposits resources in Kuzbass

Annotation:

The authors of the article prove the fact that Kuzbass, being one of the largest regions in terms of coal reserves and production volumes, is also characterized by a specific feature of high natural gas content. Coal bed methane not only complicates mining operations, but is also a dangerous and harmful factor. Integrated exploitation of deposits, meaning coal extraction and methane production at the existing mines is proposed. The main tasks that are addressed by the extraction technologies and use of coal methane deposit resources are listed. Some specific features of the methane balance reserves assessment in coal gas deposits are given. The results of calculations, proving the fact that the main direction to improving the technology of timely methane extraction should be underground degassing by the hydro-stratification method application during the period of extraction are presented as well.
