Annotation:

The authors of the article substantiate wells operation modes when implementing steam-assisted gravity drainage technology in an extra-heavy oil field and assess the technogenic aftereffects of steam injection cessation. The field under consideration is characterized by a high oil viscosity (≈ 25000 mPa·s), which makes traditional oil extraction technologies ineffective and necessitates the use of thermal enhanced oil recovery methods. Low reservoir pressure and temperature present additional challenges of this field development. One of the most effective technologies to be used in such high-viscous oil conditions is the classical steam-assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) technology, which involves forming a steam chamber in the reservoir by injecting steam into a horizontal injection well located above a horizontal production well. The authors of the article also present the results of 3D hydrodynamic modeling, express assessment of the limiting steam-oil ratio, and analytical evaluation of land surface subsidence in case of steam injection cessation.
