Development of geophysical research methods during the Great Patriotic War on the example of the Republic of Bashkortostan

Annotation:

The period (1940–1945) of the development of geophysical research methods in the USSR is considered and priority areas of exploration work are identified. The role of the state trust in the centralization of the geophysical teams and the general management of activities is determined. For the first time, a unified methodology for conducting geophysical surveys and interpreting their results with high reliability has been developed. The experience of work of geophysical parties in the described period is considered. The work of geophysical teams on the territory of the Republic of Bashkortostan is considered in detail. It was revealed that the use of geophysical research methods that were innovative in the period under consideration led to the discovery of significant deposits.

It is shown that the high results of geophysical methods, which contributed to the discovery of a number of deposits, contributed to the creation of the country’s first research organization – the Research Institute of Applied Geophysics.
