Experience of applying the method of production decline curves when operationally assessing oil deposits residual reserves that are in the late stages of development

Annotation:

The operational method application for estimating the remaining recoverable oil reserves in the development objects of the Perm Territory, based on the analysis of oil production decline curves, is considered. On the example of the analysis of the oil deposits operation in the Perm Territory, the results of the statistical analysis of the comparison of oil recovery factors in the development active zone, obtained by the method of decline curves, are compared with those ones adopted on the reserves state balance. As a result, it was revealed that in case of the development mode with reservoir pressure maintenance, the effective application of the method is possible with the development of reserves of more than 60 %, in the development in natural mode – with the development of reserves of more than 70 %. For production objects, after fulfilling these terms, the change of the rate of oil production decline was analyzed, separately for terrigenous and carbonate reservoirs. It resulted in determining the dependences of the dynamics of the oil production rate decline on the reserves recovery in various geological-technological conditions of oil objects development. The performed analysis makes it possible to more reasonably use the method of production decline curves when predicting oil residual reserves of oil deposits according to the SPE-PRMS international classification.
