The capillary forces influence on the efficiency of the technology of steam-gravity drainage of producing horizontal wells of the Yarega oil field

Annotation:

Based on the results of capillary-metric studies of the Eifelian-Starooskol deposits (D2st-ef) of the Yarega field, it was revealed that the horizontal wellbores location directly in the oil-water contact (OWC) zone is problematic, since there may be cases when the main part of the horizontal wellbore will be in a purely oil zone, while the remaining sections of the well will touch or cross oil and water weakly saturated areas. The distance of the horizontal wellbores trajectory from the vertical OWC mark leads to a decrease of recoverable reserves share, since unrecoverable oil reserves will remain below the horizontal well. The location of horizontal wells in weakly oil-saturated or water-saturated areas will lead to failure of achieving planned oil production, increasing the duration of near-wellbore zone heating and the duration of the well’s recovery. The construction of wells with a horizontal profile without crossing weakly oil-saturated intervals, but with the same oil-water contact mark, set with account of capillary forces, will make it possible to obtain 1,5 times higher oil flow-rate.
