Annotation:

The article discusses the reasons for the insufficient effectiveness of the use of the technology of cycling steam stimulation (CSS) of wells in carbonate reservoir rocks of high-viscosity oil fields in the Samara region. To identify the reasons for the decrease in the efficiency of CSS for carbonate reservoirs, the authors of the article developed and implemented a comprehensive program for studying core and fluids in the laboratory of the Center of Petroleum Science and Engineering of Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology, including petrophysical studies and aquathermolysis in an autoclave. In the course of carrying out and analyzing the results of experimental studies, phenomena leading to a decrease in the permeability of a carbonate reservoir with an increase in temperature above 100 °C were established.
