Development of a methodology for predicting the confirmability of local structures, prepared by the common depth point method-2d seismic survey in the central regions of the Western Siberia

Annotation:

A decrease of geological exploration efficiency when prospecting for hydrocarbon deposits in the Western Siberia is noted. One of the main reasons for this phenomenon is the reduction in the number of large local structures, prepared by seismic exploration for exploratory drilling. The main focus of geological exploration work is currently aimed at preparing small-sized objects. New objects (structures) are mainly prepared by using 3D spatial seismic exploration. It is important to note, that a large number of low-amplitude, small-sized structures with potentially promising hydrocarbon traps, previously prepared using 2D profiles, have not yet been introduced into exploratory drilling. In this regard as well as due to the limited resources for conducting new research, it seems urgent to assess the reliability of seismic preparation of such local structures for drilling in the central regions of the Western Siberia, in particular, the territory of the Middle Ob region, which has been highly studied by seismic exploration and drilling. In order to develop a methodology for predicting the confirmation of structures prepared for drilling, the authors of the article studied and analyzed geological and geophysical data on 130 structures mapped by CDP-2D seismic exploration along the reference reflecting horizon B, as well as the reflecting horizon Yu1, with which the regional productivity of the Yu1 Upper Jurassic formation of the Vasyugan suitr is associated.

The use of logistic regression analysis made it possible to determine the statistical dependence of the structures confirmation on the structures parameters and observation systems when preparing structures for seismic drilling, which participated in the prediction of the structures confirmation. To distinguish between confirmed and unconfirmed structures, the probability of structures being confirmed was calculated, taking into account the morphology of the structures, the parameters of the observation technique, including angles between seismic profiles, etc. Based on the results of the work performed, mathematical models for predicting the confirmation of structures were proposed, and a methodology was developed for assessing the confirmation of the structures by a set of parameters of structures and observation systems.
