Annotation:

The oil and gas companies’ interest in the Arctic region of the Earth is increasing due to the development of the Northern Sea Route. Currently, the Siberian Platform is the third region of Russia after the Western Siberia and the Ural-Volga region with a large concentration of oil and gas resources both onshore and offshore. Assessments of oil and gas resources in the Arctic zone of the Eastern Siberia were carried out in various years by A.A. Trofimuk Institute of Oil and Gas Geology and Geophysics under the leadership of A.E. Kontorovich, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, OGRI SB RAS, FSUE "VNIIGeosystem", FSUE "SNIIGGiMS", FSUE "VSEGEI", PGO "Lenaneftgazgeologiya", PGO "Yeniseineftegaz", Ministry of Geosciences of the USSR, FSUE "Yuzhmorgeology", FSUE "Sevmorneftegeofizika", MAGE. According to the US Geological Survey, the subsoil of the Arctic contains at least 75 billion tons of oil equivalent, out of which Russia accounts for 45,6 billion tons, including 11,56 billion tons of oil equivalent on land and 33,5 billion tons of oil equivalent on the shelf. The OGRI RAS analyzes publicly available production reports from the organizations of the Main Northern Sea Route of the USSR, the Ministry of Geology of the USSR, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of Russia, the Academy of Sciences of the USSR and the Academy of Sciences of the Russian Federation on geological studies of the northern part of the Siberian Platform in the period from 1928 to 2023. The results of the system analysis show the high potential of the Yenisei-Khatanga, Anabar-Khatanga, Anabar-Lena and Laptev Sea oil and gas regions, including deep-sea horizons. The most promising areas for oil and gas exploration are the territories of the Anabaro-Lena regional system. All oil and gas deposits, discovered on land, are confined to the Upper Paleozoic-Lower Mesozoic sediments (Permian, Triassic). Of great interest are the deep-lying Riphean-Middle Paleozoic sediments that have not been penetrated by drilling, probably composed of terrigenous and carbonate deposits. Halogen deposits discovered on the Anabar-Khatanga saddle and predicted in the Khatanga Bay and on the shallow shelf of the Anabar-Lena oil and gas region are of significant exploration interest. Due to the technical capabilities of Russian oil and gas companies, drilling on promising structures on the shelf identified by seismic exploration will in the near future only be possible from the shore, as well as drilling on promising seismic stratigraphic complexes at depths of 5...8 km.
