Annotation:

The article considers the geochemical features of the Upper Cretaceous complex of northeast Sakhalin. Within the limits of the North Sakhalin and Border regions, oil and gas-mother Meso-Cenozoic strata of three types have been established: clay-siliceous, terrigenous-clay, terrigenous-coal-bearing. The terrigenous-clay formations are represented by Upper Cretaceous deposits of the Okhinskaya, Polyanskaya, possibly Toyskaya and Muzminskaya formations, and the Cenozoic section in the volume of the Okobykai, Nutovskaya, Daginskaya, Uiniyskaya formations, as well as the Mutnovskaya formation of the Border region. The terrigenous coal-bearing formations are composed of the Upper Cretaceous Slavic formation, as well as the Paleogene-Neogene Lukaminskiy, Machigarskiy, Daginskiy coal-bearing formations, with a predominance of humus.

The main information on the geochemical study is confined to the sections of the Polyanskaya (Jonkjerskaya) and Okhinskaya (Krasnoyarsk) formations. The detailed geochemical characteristics of these formations are given, the peculiarities of changing properties over the area of the sedimentary basin and the section are determined. Conclusions are drawn on the prospects of deposits from the perspective of oil and gas engineering complexes. In the context of the open question of sediment stratification, a comparison of the geochemical properties of the Cretaceous section of northeast and west Sakhalin is presented.
