The Vasyuganskaya suite, which is a key oil and gas-bearing complex of the West Siberian province, is characterized by a complex lithological composition and lithofacial variability of the deposits. Geological modeling of these deposits necessitates a comprehensive approach for accurate interpretation of the geological structure and prediction of reservoir properties. This approach includes a detailed study of core material, seismic data and geophysical well investigations.

The article briefly addresses the issue of enhancing the accuracy of geological modeling for productive strata within the Vasyugan deposits. An analysis of geological models of productive strata has been conducted, along with a detailed correlation within the licensed subsurface area. A sedimentological analysis of core data has been performed to diagnose the sedimentation conditions of the Upper Vasyugan complex deposits. The form of the logging diagrams corresponding to the facies delineated from the core data has been established, and patterns of variation in the content of sandy material have been identified.

This approach has enabled a more precise determination of the geometry of reservoir boundaries, filtration-capacity properties and the heterogeneity of layers, which, in turn, enhances the reliability of hydrocarbon prospect predictions.
