Annotation:

This article demonstrates the importance of carbon dioxide disposal projects in natural geological reservoirs for oil and gas companies. The step-by-step approach to subsurface geological investigation adopted in the Russian Federation is illustrated. The developed approaches for assessing prospective carbon dioxide storage resources are described. The study analyses the specifics of assessing geological targets in prospective areas.
