The choice of the most rational system for developing hydrocarbon (HC) fields in order to increase oil recovery is impossible without creating adequate models of productive formations, geometry and material composition of which are largely determined by the patterns of facies distribution and the specifics of their formation. The authors of the article present the results of a comprehensive analysis of multi-scale geological and geophysical data when creating a conceptual lithofacies model and geometrization of productive Lower Cretaceous formations of the AB group within one of the large oil fields of the Nizhnevartovsk vault of the West Siberian oil and gas province. The conducted lithological studies of the core allowed performing a cyclic-stratigraphic analysis, typifying wells sections and performing a detailed inter-well correlation. The use of the interpretation results of 3D seismic exploration together with the above-mentioned studies allowed identifying lithofacies and seismofacies complexes, determining the nature of their mutual transitions, the expected geometry and nature of the sand bodies’ heterogeneity and, ultimately, the patterns of hydrocarbon deposits placement. It was revealed that productive sand deposits were formed within the alluvial-delta plain (under the active influence of wave activity) and the shallow shelf. The identified sedimentary bodies of the distribution channels and bars were geometrized in detail and their characteristics were determined.
