Annotation:
In the Russian fuel and energy complex Volgograd region is an important part of it in the Southern federal District. The oil and gas complex of the region is characterized by a significant identified hydrocarbon production base. The degree of exploration of the initial total resources of the oil base is 37,88 % for oil and 7,75 % for gas. This indicates a high potential of the region in terms of prospects for further development of the oil and gas complex [2, 9]. Involvement of the raw resource base in the process of hydrocarbon production will be facilitated, in addition to technological development, by a science-based strategy of geological exploration, based on modern ideas about the formation of hydrocarbon deposits and first of all about the regularities of changes in the physical and chemical properties of oils. This paper is devoted to the last most important issue.
It is shown that when conducting geochemical studies in the process of solving geological exploration problems, the whole complex of geochemical information characterizing the conditions of oil composition formation, as well as productive sediments in general, is necessary. This allows to develop the most significant diagnostic criteria for the presence of hydrocarbon deposits in potential traps, their connection with other zones.
