The author of the article analyzes the results of seismic exploration works using the common depth point 3D method, conducted on the Western coast of the Kamchatka region in 2015–2021. The main focus is on studying the upper soil layer (USL) to a depth of up to 18 m and its influence on the quality of field seismic data. The variability of lithological composition and velocity characteristics of the USL as well as its relationship with the local relief and landscape conditions are analyzed. It is shown that the USL inhomogeneity high degree requires detailed study and an adaptive approach to selecting the excitation parameters of seismic waves. The relevance of the study is coursed by the necessity of improving seismic data quality in complex surface conditions of the Western Kamchatka for effective hydrocarbon exploration. The scientific novelty of the work lies in the comprehensive analysis of the USL variation influence on the parameters of seismic exploration works and the quality of materials obtained in a poorly studied region. The research results emphasize the importance of an integrated approach to the analysis and planning of geophysical operations, being especially important for hydrocarbon exploration in poorly explored areas with complicated surface conditions.
