Annotation:

The history of creation and stages of industrial implementation of the spectral noise measurement method (passive acoustic and electromagnetic noise emission) and its main modifications are considered by the authors of the article. The physical foundations, technological features and special relevance when diagnosing operation of high-tech horizontal oil wells are briefly described. Examples of modern borehole studies based on hardware complexes with different metrological characteristics are given, the potential for further development of the method and its modifications, including as distributed passive acoustics based on fiber-optic permanent stationary measuring systems (DAS), is considered.
The authors of the article present the long-term practice of National University of Oil and Gas "Gubkin University", especially specialists of the Department of Geophysical Information Systems (GIS), in the development and testing of spectral noise measurement methods in oil and gas wells. Due to these developments, significant progress is achieved in the industry at present, and methods continue their development, adapting to the conditions of deposits completion by horizontal wells.
