Comprehensive analysis of well logging and field data for refinement of geological and reservoir simulation model

Annotation:

The paper presents a proposed approach to comprehensive analysis, systematization and accounting of well logging and field data accumulated in the course of field development to improve reliability of geological and reservoir simulation models. Analysis of water cut profile, changes in the position of oil-water contact in open and cased holes, chemical analysis of produced water and analysis of radio-geochemical anomalies enabled mapping of displacement front advance through individual reservoirs of a multilayer field, refinement of historical injection distributions, evaluation of the activity of edge water zones as well as reservoir connectivity in the interwell space. Application of comprehensive analysis data resulted in reduction of the number of iterations while history matching of the geological and reservoir simulation model, better convergence of not only reservoir production performance data by wells, but also of the results of production well logging, and thus, improved predictive ability of the geological and reservoir simulation model. The present research efforts allowed for identification of various oil displacement mechanisms in the upper and lower members of the Pashian formation, determination of peculiar aspects related to geological structure of the reservoir, and refinement of residual reserves distribution pattern. The most promising targets for well drilling and sidetracking were also proposed.
