APPROACHES TO MONITORING THE PROCESS OF LIQUID HYDROCARBONS GENERATION, RECOVERED FROM KEROGEN-CONTAINING ROCKS UNDER COMMERCIAL CONDITIONS

Annotation:

One of the applied technologies aimed at involving of hard-to-recover reserves in the development contained in the Upper Jurassic bituminous formation of the Western Siberia is thermal gas treatment (TGT). During the course of a field experiment at the Sredne-Nazymskoye field in order to monitor the development and to increase oil recovery, the task of assessing the share of synthetic oil, which is formed as a result of kerogen thermal destruction, when using TGT, in the total production of wells, becomes urgent. The paper shows that the portion of synthetic oil in a production well can be estimated on the basis of comprehensive geochemical studies. Compositions of native (initial) oil, synthetic oil obtained experimentally as a result of kerogen pyrolysis, and their mixtures in different proportions were studied by applying the methods of gas chromatography and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. To assess the impurity of synthetic oil, the most informative molecular parameters related to indicators of the degree of its catagenetic maturity have been determined. Palette curves were built that allow identifying the portion of synthetic oil exceeding 15 % of the total volume of oil produced by the well.
