Annotation:

The article discusses the features of calculating the permissible weight on the hook when lowering and lifting casing strings in wells. It is shown that the results of the permissible weight calculation depend on the friction coefficients of the casing and transporting strings against the walls of the well. It causes the necessity, when analyzing the well design, of calculating the permissible weight on the hook during lowering/lifting the casing strings for different friction coefficients and comparing the calculated weight on the hook with the permissible weight for one and the same friction coefficients. When analyzing the actual weights recorded during casing strings descent into wells, it is necessary to firstly evaluate the effective friction coefficient by comparing it with the calculated weight, and then focus on the calculated permissible weight obtained for this coefficient of friction. The authors of the article consider the main features of calculating the permissible weight on the hook based on the analysis of a hypothetical straight horizontal well as well as examples of permissible weight calculation for the real wells using the Well Force 1.0 program, herewith analyzing the results obtained.
