Annotation:

Currently, the use of viscoelastic surfactants (VES) as chemical diverters during acidizing is becoming more common. One of the factors determining the efficiency of the acid compositions based on VES is their rheological properties, while it is important to achieve the required rheological characteristics with a minimum surfactant concentration. Consequently, auxiliary chemical substances – modifiers of rheological properties, among which electrolytes are the most accessible ones – are often added to solutions of VES. This article presents the study results of the calcium chloride effect on the change in the rheological properties of the mixture of cocamidopropyl betaine and sulfosuccinate of ethoxylated fatty alcohols in hydrochloric acid solutions. This combination of the surfactant is promising for developing acid compositions with a "self-diversion" effect. According to the results of the research, it was found that calcium chloride addition to the acid composition allows reducing the concentration of the expensive surfactants in the acid composition, increasing the viscosity of partially neutralized solutions, expanding the area of viscoelastic properties manifestation and shifting the viscosity peak to the area of a higher residual hydrochloric acid content, which is more preferable for increasing the technological efficiency of acid treatments. Thus, the addition of an electrolyte to a mixture of the above-mentioned VES is an effective way to change and control rheological characteristics and, accordingly, to achieve the required technological properties of modified acid compositions based on VES.
