Annotation:

The oil and gas complex is the main driving force behind the sustainable and rapid development of the economy of the Russian Federation. It provides a significant share of foreign exchange earnings to the budget as well as the most significant contribution to the gross domestic product. Its influence is felt by many sectors of the economy. The oil and gas complex is one of the most powerful and technologically equipped. However, the existence of such a system requires a competent approach to solving management problems at all stages of the life cycle of oil and gas industry facilities.

In modern conditions, it is practically impossible to effectively process the huge (and steadily increasing) flow of information using the old tools, which does not stop even after the object has already been designed and built, since, entering the operation stage, it interacts with other objects and the environment. The global industry, which is at the stage of the fourth industrial revolution development, called "Industry 4.0", offers an approach based on the massive introduction of information technology in industry, large-scale automation of business processes and artificial intelligence spreading. The article overviews the approaches to information management in the industry projects based on the international practice in order to maximize business efficiency and obtain positive effects like processes optimization and labor productivity increase.
