The efficiency of fields development characterized by high compartmentalization and heterogeneity of reservoir properties significantly depends on the correctness and precision of their description. The authors of the article present the developed method of high-productive intervals identification in a carbonate reservoir cross-section, followed by the subsequent simulation model (SM) modification of a heterogeneous carbonate reservoir with high oil-saturated thickness values. The formation is fully drilled by the well stock and characterized by a high degree of field studies coverage. A breakthrough of water injected to maintain reservoir pressure is observed in production wells. The proposed method is based on the comprehensive analysis of geophysical well logging, well tests and production logging results, alongside with historical production and inter-well interactions data.
The authors of the article also present an algorithm of a well-to-well identification of high-productivity intervals based on the boundary value of the specific productivity coefficient, outlines the process of incorporating these intervals data into the SM and adjusting their permeability based on the well test data. Modification of the SM allowed reproducing the water cut growth dynamics per wells and the formation in the whole, thereby validating the efficiency of the proposed approach. The method’s applicability is contingent on the extent of field study coverage across the well stock.
