During 2019–2021 up to 50 % of wells stock were shut down in the deposits of the Western Siberia for a long period of time due to oil production restrictions under the agreement between Russia and OPEC (Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries). After its completion, the wells oil production rate was changing differently: production of some wells decreased, while others increased.

The aim of the research is to reveal the factors affecting the results of wells’ restarting after a long shutdown, such as the effect of mass transfer processes (cross flow) between interlayers with different permeability and current oil saturation. The research process involved the construction and comparison of maps of geological and technological parameters.

The study revealed the influence of mass-transfer direction between interlayers during wells shutdown on wells operational mode after their restarting as well as a dependence of this direction from accumulated compensation of withdrawals on a layering deposit side was built. Selection of candidate wells with an optimal combination of geological and technological factors will allow reducing losses during repeated forced shutdowns of wells in the areas with expressed permeability anisotropy.
