At present, an increasing number of hard-to-recover reserves are being involved in the development. Their efficient recovery requires application of hydraulic fracturing technology (HF) instead of using traditional well completion technology. The number of wells subjected to HF is increasing every year and, according to some forecasts, will go on be growing exponentially.
Each hydraulic fracturing crack is filled by balls (proppant), holding it open. However, during the operation of producing wells, the proppant pack is deformed, pressing the balls into the walls of the crack wall, thus significantly reducing the crack width and consequently brining a decrease of the well, subjected to fracturing, productivity.
Despite a fairly large number of laboratory studies of the proppant, at the moment there still exists no single physical-mathematical model that allows correct description of the laboratory data and predict the crack opening (width) during the operation of producing wells.
The model proposed by the authors of the article, will allow predicting the productivity of wells subjected to fracturing by clarifying the calculation of the dimensionless conductivity of the crack due to the crack width decrease. Refining the productivity of the well will increase the efficiency of hydraulic fracturing due to the operating mode optimization.
