Rationale for allocating oil fields development stages

Annotation:

Numerous studies have been devoted to the problems of stages development identification, which proposed to divide the entire period of oil field development into four stages according to oil production rates. It should be noted that the criteria establishing the boundaries between the stages are conditional and subjective. The authors of the article, based on the results of the analysis of development of 21 deposits of Bobrikov sediments, 9 deposits of Devonian sediments of the Samara region fields, compare the graphs of the flushing multiplicity dependence τ, water-oil factor (WOF) and its derivative (WOF’), built in a double logarithmic scale, as well as the oil production rate Tn, oil recovery factor (ORF) as well as substantiate the allocation of development stages. It is established that the curves τ → f(ORF) for deposits are typical, non- depending on the source (reasons) of flooding, while the first characteristic inflection point of the curve always and for all development objects coincides with the maximum oil production rate Tn max. The typical dependence up to Tn max is linearly increasing, taking an exponential form up to the second inflection point, and then a sharply increasing according to the exponential dependence. The listed properties of the dependencies τ → f(ORF), obtained by approximating the actual indicators of reservoir development, and the closeness of the tightness of these relationships R2 to a unit indicate their universality. The results of the studies allowed the authors to present the process of developing any deposit in three stages and several steps in each stage of development. The beginning and end of the stage are determined by two characteristic inflection points of τ and are duplicated by the characteristic inflection points of the curves WOF, WOF’. The steps within the stage are distinguished by the characteristic inflection points of the curves WOF and WOF’, which indicate the stage-by-stage nature of water approach through the interlayers.
