Some specific features of modeling production wells operation in low-permeable reservoirs

Annotation:

Reservoir pressure changes when developing a field lead to changes of the stress-strain state. Rock deformation affects reservoir characteristics and, consequently, filtration processes: pressure distribution and fluid saturation. Modeling of production wells operation in low-permeable reservoirs requires taking into account geo-mechanical effects to obtain correct forecast data. Numerical modeling of wells in low-permeable reservoirs raises the problem of forecast process parameters calculation. Analysis of low-permeable reservoirs development proves low efficiency of reservoir pressure maintenance system, production wells operate at decreasing reservoir pressure. Irreversible deformations occurring in the well bottom zone during formation fluid production affect the filtration characteristics of rocks, well flow rates decrease.

When calculating the forecast option in hydrodynamic simulators fluid flow rates increase which contradicts the historical dynamics of wells operation is observed. Forecasting the dynamics of wells operation in a low-permeable reservoir requires taking into account additional parameters in the balance conservation equations. Modification of the values of connectivity and pore volume in the numerical model cells allows accounting for mechanical changes in the well bottom zone of production wells.
