Diagnostics of the behind-the-casing flows from above based on the results of borehole thermometry

Annotation:

The relevance of the study is caused by the problem of monitoring the development of deposits and the necessity of diagnosing the behind-the-casing flows by set of geophysical methods and measures. The complexity of diagnosing the behind-the-casing flows from above lies in the shielding effect of the upward fluid flow in the borehole. The authors of the article study the thermal field change in the wellbore of a producing well under the influence of the behind-the-casing liquid motion. A mathematical model of the process has been compiled based on the equation of the energy flow in a well, taking into account heat exchange with liquid moving through the behind-the-casing space. The analytical dependences of the temperature distribution in the behind-the-casing flows interval for the flow in the column and in the behind-the-casing flows channel in the quasi-stationary approximation are obtained. Based on the analysis of field studies and mathematical modeling, quantitative parameters of the behind-the-casing flows were obtained. The created model can be recommended for practical use when explaining the causes of production wells water-flooding due to the occurrence of behind-the-casing flows.
