Annotation:
The authors of the article present the results of peer reviews application as a key method of appraisal of a major capital project’s readiness for transition to the next project phase. Statistical data of groups review recommendations by review areas and its dynamics by project phase are shown. There is also discussed correlation of peer review conclusions with company decisions at decision gate.
The analysis confirms reputation of peer review as a reliable tool to ensure confidence of decision executives on major capital projects in high quality of their decisions.
Statistical data also confirm the importance of decision quality that ensures value creation on early phases. Increase of attention to aspects of planning and execution as a project is being prepared to final investment decision is also confirmed statistically.
