Annotation:

One of the effective mechanisms for reducing greenhouse gases (GHG) emissions is carbon capture, utilization and storage (CC(U)S) technologies. The analysis of projects being implemented and planned for implementation shows that nowadays, enhanced oil recovery technologies (CO2 Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR-CO2) are less common than projects for geological placement of CO2 (Сarbon Сapture and Storage (ССS), but at the same time they are capable of reducing costs due to additional oil production, that’s why interest to the development of EOR-CO2 remains high, both from the point of view of increasing the efficiency of additional oil recovery technologies and ensuring the necessary volumes of carbon dioxide burial in the formation. The comparative assessment of the main EOR-CO2 methods is presented, the effectiveness of technologies in additional oil recovery and the need for their optimization for safe CO2 sequestration is shown.
