Annotation:

In the complicated fund of producing wells of the majority of oil companies, there prevail wells in the underground equipment of which asphalt-resin-paraffin deposits (ARPD) are formed. Despite the use of paraffin inhibitors the number of such wells does not decrease, so the long-term problem requires close attention. The pumping equipment efficient operation of such wells requires periodic removal of deposits by an organic solvent in a dynamic mode. The authors of the article consider a method for determining the volume of ARPD in a column of lifting pipes by pumping inert gas into them through a double-acting check valve above the electric centrifugal pump.
The process of displacing well production by gas of significantly lower density will be accompanied by a constant increase of injection pressure at the wellhead that will reach its maximum when the gas fills the space of the lifting pipes free of deposits. The volume of deposits in the well is determined by the volume of injected gas at the moment the wellhead pressure reaches its maximum value. Preliminary work for diagnosing the internal state of the lifting pipes ensures rational and effective use of organic solvents in wells complicated by ARPD.
