Most oil fields in the world are in the late stages of development. During long-term water flooding, water injection causes complex physical-chemical technogenic changes in reservoir intra pore space. These changes, in their turn, cause differences of reservoir filtration characteristics at different stages of development. Technogenic changes of reservoir properties affect the filtration patterns and largely determine the distribution of residual oil in water-flooded reservoirs. However, modern commercial software packages for numerical modeling of development processes do not take these changes into account. The key to increasing the information content of development process modeling is a quantitative accounting for technogenic changes in a reservoir over time based on modern concepts of the micro-mechanisms of reservoir damage processes and the formation of various types of residual oil. The authors of the article propose a technology for accounting for technogenic changes in the numerical modeling of long-term flooding of productive formations. The resulting distributions of residual oil saturation allow optimizing production at the final stage of deposit development for medium and high permeability formations with various mechanisms of technogenic reservoir damage.
