Annotation:
Gas logging for wells drilling has been used in its modern form for more than 25 years. Today, this method is successfully used in the oil industry for operational geosteering during wells drilling, determination of inter-fluid contacts (gas-oil contact and oil-water contact) as well as of reservoir saturation type. The technology recent application results have increased the reliability and accuracy of the method, thereby increasing the relevance of this research.
The author of the article highlights the latest practices in gas logging that can improve the information content of the method and thereby provide the in-depth understanding of reservoir fluid properties required for real-time decision making during wells intervention. The innovations shown also offer significant opportunities to expand gas logging techniques to ensure wells integrity and completion selection and thereby achieve production targets.
