Annotation:

The existing global gas shortage of the world largest economies and the constantly growing gas export potential in Russia require consideration of the gas transportation infrastructure possibilities taking into account the export policy of Russia. This study, firstly, shows the dynamics of changes in the reserves to production ratio of natural gas for all regions of the world, secondly, the infrastructural capabilities of countries with significant natural gas export potential are analyzed to understand the prospects for the development of large infrastructure projects for gas transportation for the purpose of export-import supplies, thirdly, the infrastructural capabilities of the largest natural gas exporters and importers in 2019 are considered in more detail. The study showed that all five leading countries in the development of gas export potential play a significant role in the gas market: Russia, Qatar, Norway, Australia and the United States. At the same time, Russia had the largest gas export potential in 2019. Russia was the leader in gas exports in 2019. The largest gas importers are Russia's closest partners in the gas market: China and Germany. As a result, Russia has an unconditional infrastructure leadership both in the way of natural gas supply (by pipeline, LNG) and in the directions of natural gas supply (Europe, Asia-Pacific countries) to the world gas markets, that requires the creation of a reliable and extensive infrastructure for natural gas export supplies both for traditional EU markets, as well as the rapidly developing markets of the Asia-Pacific countries that are adapted to growing needs.
