Annotation:
The paper analyzes a model that characterizes cooperation between Russia and Germany in the gas sector. Historically and logically, the interaction of the capitals of Russia and Germany is carried out within the framework of a bilateral monopoly model, the two sides of which are an aggregated supplier and a consumer of Russian natural gas. Lately, the influence of external factors, both the market and non-market ones, on the EU gas market is becoming more and more noticeable. Long-term cooperation between Russia and Germany is being tested today by constant attempts to influence the implementation of the commercial project Nord Stream 2, the successful completion and further functioning of which depends on the position of the Russian and German parties as its leading beneficiaries.
