Annotation:

In modern conditions, pipeline transport is one of the most important elements of the production infrastructure, which means much both within the country and at the global level. Therefore, its stable functioning in one way or another determines the direction of economic growth in the country. However, this specific type of transport is associated with risks and safety problems that arise both at the stage of pipelines design and construction and at the stage of their further operation. Timely assessment of risks and problems allows reducing the level of resource losses and the impact of risk in all directions. That’s why, in order to ensure the safety of pipeline transport, a high-quality and effective emergency protection system is required, which is especially important for oil refineries. The article considers the features and advantages of pipeline transport, the need to ensure its safety. The reasons of failures and accidents of pipeline transport as well as their aftereffect in the surrounding world are presented. The measures ensuring pipeline transport safety and the associated problems are described. The article also presents the developed mathematical model of the emergency shutdown system of the pipeline transport section in its relationship with the technology of oil and gas production and processing. This model is based on the stochastic process of occurrence of failures and critical modes of technologies, it is developed taking into account international standards for functional safety of production and allows determining the required reliability parameters for a specific version of the security systems specification.
