Annotation:

Modern global energy trends today require more and more transformation from market players. The goals of complying with the terms of the Paris Agreement and achieving hydrocarbon neutrality have already been featured for a long time and recently the list of current trends was also supplemented by the ESG-agenda, digitalization and innovations in the energy sector. While such major world players as the EU and the USA are showing a desire to actively develop towards "green" energy, Russia is not accelerating the process of complete change of the focus and moving away from traditional, hydrocarbon generation and exports. The development of the "Eastern vector", new LNG projects however, do not at all prevent Russia's energy strategy from aiming at successes in such a promising sector as hydrogen energy, and developing technologies for reducing harmful CO2 emissions. What are the main features and differences of the Russian energy strategy from such competitors as the US, the EU and China, and how is Russia fitting into the new, increasingly tough, realities of the "green" agenda? The article gives answers to these questions.
