Annotation:

The article considers the main problems of sustainable development and energy transition and their influence on the energy policy of India and China. It is shown that ensuring sustainable development, energy transition and achieving carbon neutrality in recent years have become the main trends, tasks and goals for the development of global energy and the economy as a whole, but in different countries the directions, ways and methods for solving these problems and achieving the goals are different. An analysis of these differences is given both for the developed and developing countries and for India and China. Special attention is paid to the analysis of natural gas role in achieving the goals of sustainable development and energy transition in the countries under consideration. It is concluded that it is unrealistic to count on a further significant increase in Russian gas exports to these countries.
