Annotation:

The transformation of the world economy in the direction of low-carbon development (energy transition) raises the problem of inter-fuel competition in power generation. The article analyzes the role and prospects for the use of traditional energy carriers – coal and gas – in the energy sector in the context of the preferred transition to renewable energy sources.
