A project approach to assessing the competitiveness of Russian gas supply to China

Annotation:

China is one of the largest gas consumers in the world. Due to the lack of opportunities to satisfy domestic gas consumption on account of its own production, the country is forced to annually increase the volume of this energy resource import. In turn, the current global situation and the change of gas market conditions allow Russia to diversify export directions, primarily to the east, where China is the largest and the most strategically important potential gas market, which also needs to diversify sources of energy supplies to the country. To understand what share Russian gas can take at the Chinese market, the competitiveness of options for Russian gas supplies to China was analyzed and a formula for assessing the competitiveness of gas supplies, both pipeline and LNG, with different production capacities, was proposed.
