Annotation:

The use of natural gas in Turkey has been growing over the past twenty years, with the resource playing an increasingly important role in the country's economy and energy sector. However, Turkey is entirely dependent on gas import, significant volumes of which are imported via pipeline from Russia. At the same time it should be noted that Turkey has been pursuing a strategy of import diversification for a significant period of time, expanding its import infrastructure. The country has started and goes on building new ports to receive liquefied natural gas. In addition, Turkey is trying to produce its own gas while limiting its use within the country. The Turkish government is seeking to take advantage of the situation to ensure favorable conditions for gas imports from Russia. The issue of financing gas purchases and subsidizing domestic prices remains a very serious problem of the country. At the same time, in the short and medium terms, Turkey also seems to be a rather attractive partner for Europe or at least for the countries in the Balkans and the south of the continent. The Turkish government is trying to use this factor by creating a gas hub in the country.
