Biomass as one of the alternative energy sources

Annotation:

The article substantiates the relevance of using biomass as a carbon-neutral energy source, and the positive and negative aspects of using biomass are considered. The study analyzes forecasts for the use of biomass as well as the dynamics of its consumption increase. Potential growth for the use of biomass in the Russian Federation is shown as well as the loss of growing volumes for the countries that have imposed sanctions on the Russian energy sector. It is noted that in the "Strategy for development of forestry complex in Russian Federation until 2030" bioenergy and wood granulation are mentioned among the measures to improve the efficiency and profitability of the forestry sector.
