Annotation:

The possible environmental impacts of the development of oil and gas resources of the Arctic seas of Russia are discussed. The necessity of a regulatory process, the development of offshore fields and the organization of permanent monitoring of the environment in the areas of prospecting, exploration and development of oil and gas in the Arctic seas is substan-tiated.
