New method of non-destructive testing (NDT) using induced low-frequency vibration

Annotation:

This article describes the types of defects in equipment, methods for their diagnosis, and also proposes a new method for non-destructive testing of defects by low-frequency guided waves [1, 2]. To test this hypothesis, a number of experiments were carried out with a steel plate 4 mm thick and a perpendicular notch 2 mm deep, simulating a crack. Based on the results of the tests, graphs of the dependence of the amplitude on frequency were obtained. Their analysis made it possible to determine the relationship between the oscillation amplitude and the presence of a defect in the plate. Based on the experiments, it was concluded that it is possible to develop a new method of non-destructive testing that uses low-frequency waves to diagnose defects in small-diameter pipes.
