One of the main oil and gas basins in Syria is the Palmyra basin. Among the many sedimentary formations within it, the most promising for prospecting, exploration and development of oil and gas fields is the Kurachain Dolomite formation. This formation is usually divided into three main zones: D2, D1 and C2, the thin D1 zone being the most productive. However, despite the fact that sufficient information on the basin obtained by seismic methods and drilling, little attention has been paid to lithological studies, in particular, there are practically no cases of core extracting and its detailed study. This paper presents studies of the Kurachain Dolomite formation deposits within the North Hussein field. Based on the study of rock samples in thin sections and well logging data, regularities are established in the change of sedimentation environments and the formation of reservoir rocks within them. The results obtained complement the general idea of the development of the Palmyra basin within its northern part.
