Annotation:

The goal of Russia’s energy policy is to maximize the efficient use of natural energy resources and the potential of the energy sector for sustainable economic growth, improving the quality of life of the country’s population and helping to strengthen its foreign economic positions. In this regard, the article examines the current conditions for the development of the natural gas transportation industry from the perspective of factors affecting energy efficiency. It is shown that a change in the operating conditions of the system of main gas pipelines leads to a change in the effective instruments for achieving energy efficiency of gas transportation. One of the priority tasks in this case is to optimize the modes of operation of gas transmission systems, taking into account the actual technical condition of equipment and pipelines and, above all, gas pumping units, determined by parametric diagnostic methods. Currently, insufficient attention is paid to these methods, which leads to a significant reduction in the effect of optimization, requires updating, and in some cases the development of new regulatory and methodological documentation in this area.
