Annotation:

At present, the main industrial methods of producing synthetic oil from kerogen shale are offshore retorting methods. Over the last decade the level of annual production of synthetic oil from kerogen shale in the world has not exceeded 2 million tons, of which Estonia accounts for 60–70 % of production and China for 30–40 %. Methods of refining kerogen shale have a significant negative impact on the environment. According to the authors, we should not expect a significant increase in kerogen oil production in the medium term.
