Petrographic characteristics and capacitance properties of unconventional reservoirs confined to basement weathering crusts of the Baikitskaya anteclise

Annotation:

Currently, a significant part of the reserves of hydrocarbon raw materials can be extracted from unconventional reservoirs and, accordingly, new fundamental methods and approaches to the compilation of search criteria are needed. In the Russian Federation, hydrocarbon accumulation sites that may belong to unconventional reservoirs are still not fully structured into separate categories. Deposits of the Khadum and Bazhenov formations, basement weathering crust, crystalline basement, and hydrocarbon deposits in igneous rocks are considered unconventional. In this paper, the rocks of the weathering crust of the Baikitskaya anteclise, opened by wells within the Yurubchen-Tokhomsky and Kuyumbinsky oil and gas fields, are considered. The rocks are represented by both frame and frameless hypergenic metasomatites with their characteristic structural and textural features. A detailed petrographic characteristic of all structural genera of weathering crust rocks is given. The main criteria for their differences are shown, which also affect the reservoir potential of rocks. The void space in rocks of the hypergenic-metasomatic class is associated with three structural and genetic types: open cracks, leaching voids and intercrystalline pores in aggregates of newly formed minerals. It is shown that the rocks of the weathering crust of the basement can be considered as reservoirs of hydrocarbons. The vertical heterogeneity of the section is also justified.
