Annotation:

The existing system of operation and maintenance of gas pipelines is constantly being improved, but, in many respects, it is still based on methodological approaches developed at the end of the last century. This does not take into account the achievements of the past period in the development of diagnostic methods and tools, existing operational experience, with respect for the actual technical condition of equipment and pipelines. The article discusses new innovative approaches to monitoring and managing the integrity of main pipelines aimed at improving the reliability, safety and energy efficiency of the operation of oil and gas transportation systems. The expediency of using a risk-based approach to determine the parameters of monitoring the technical condition to prevent pipeline failures is shown and the sequence of its implementation is given. The authors identify the most promising areas for the development of monitoring systems.
