Annotation:
Polymers are widely used in the oil and gas industry, while interest in biodegradable polymers is growing due to the urgency of the environmental agenda. The paper considers two new directions for the application of the biodegradable polymer polylactide (PLA). One direction is related to the production of modified sorbents based on PLA by electroforming, intended for the elimination of emergency oil spills, the other is the use of PLA as a coating for nanocapsules in the encapsulation of phase transition materials (FPM), recommended for transporting coolant into the zone of possible formation of man-made gas hydrates in order to avoid grabbing and destruction of drilling tools. A special feature of PLA is the relative cheapness of production, the availability of raw materials and biodegradability.
